Stent

The term stent is used to define a tubular device used to provide patency in tubular structures.

The definition of stent in interventional radiology differs from definitions in surgery, and dentistry.

The term comes from Charles R. Stent. A compound used in surgery for making molds shaped to keep grafts in place. (Stent's mass)

Later modified to devices that provide support for tubular structures being anastomosed.
