Panoramic Ultrasound
Accelerometer + gyroscope on an ultrasound probe can be used to create panoramic image. Sensors like MPU-6050 with software stitching can be uses to stitch multiple images to final image however imperfect the motions of transducer.
Imperfections in probe motion can be due to imperfections in XYZ speed or variation in XYZ angle. Probe angle can vary due to surface irregularities of patients skin or variations in wrist motion of ultrasound operator. Whatever the source of imperfection gyroscope and accelerometer also can be used to align the plane of the images.
All acquired images should be placed in a 3D volume and stitched after selecting an imaginary ideal mid plane.
